Cookbooks

Where it all begins—the cookbooks —a store within the store.

At the base of all great cooking is the cookbook—still the driving force in the kitchen. Even the popularity of cooking channels would not exist without the labors of Julia Child, Craig Claiborne, James Beard, Graham Kerr, Elizabeth David and so on.

Our cookbook library contains various topics including:
• Cooking Basics
• Reference Books—Cookwise/Basewise/Educational books
• Regional & local books such as Peach Tree, Rather Sweet and Gruene General Store Cookbooks
• Known chefs
• Specific Topics: Baking, Breadmaking, Pizza, Soups, BBQ & Grilling and more
• Cultural Topics : Mexican, German, French, etc.

One of our favorites is the Fredericksburg PTA Cookbook. First published in 1916, it is periodically updated, but its first 50 pages or so contain German recipes from some of Fredericksburg’s founding names.
